Well I have a 2003sbs/echange box that has failed physicaly. All I have is the NTbackup file for exchange. I do not have the system state. :-( I have built a new server with the same name and drive structure. (Ip had to be changed). I have exchange loaded in recoverymode and am trying to recover the store with ntbackup. It keeps telling me the store is corrupt but I know its a good backup. Any sugesstions? Am I proceading correctly?

From where is it saying the store is corrupt? Can you post the message? It's quite possible it could have corrupted when it crashed in which you would have to perform a repair.

So when trying to mount the store, the message is saying "there has been an internal processing error. Try restarting the system manager or the store. Refer to the event log for the error" also here are the events: Event Type: Error Event Source: ESE Event Category: Logging/Recovery Event ID: 454 Date: 11/26/2006 Time: 8:24:20 AM User: N/A Computer: VTI-SBS-SEA01 Description: Information Store (3524) First Storage Group: Database recovery/restore failed with unexpected error -539. Looks like you have a database and log mismatch C:\Documents and Settings\chongja>C:\err\Err\Err.exe 0xfffffde5 # for hex 0xfffffde5 / decimal -539 : JET_errDatabaseLogSetMismatch esent98.h # /* Database does not belong with the current set of log # files */ # 1 matches found for "0xfffffde5" You may need to run a hard repair. But I would first check to see if your database is in a cleanshutdown state. Run through the exchange troubleshooting assistant, it will tell you this and your issue and the options on how to restore with KB articles.
