We have an exchange 5.5 and exchange 2003 server, the exchange 5.5 has been migrated to the exchange 2003 server but the connectors are still on the exchange 5.5 server. I need to move the connectors over to the exchange 2003 server, but would like to do some testing first. We own two domain .com and .co.uk all our .co.uk traffic is pushed down from our ISP to the exchange 5.5 server, I have asked our ISP to push all our .com mail down to the exchange 2003 server, I have setup an smtp connector on the exchange 2003 server and created a test .com e-mail address, if I send a mail internally to the .com address from a .co.uk e-mail then mail arrives, if I send a external mail to the .com e-mail address the mail never arrives. Should this work if so can anyone spare any thoughts to what I'm doing wrong, or am I just creating more work for myself and should just try to move the .co.uk connector from the exchange 5.5 server.
