For some reason out of the blue when I send mail to this one particular client of mine which I do on a daily basis I get this error now

Description:
This is an SMTP protocol error log for virtual server ID 1, connection #832. The remote host "68.76.193.17", responded to the SMTP command "xexch50" with "504 Need to authenticate first ". The full command sent was "XEXCH50 2176 2 ". This will probably cause the connection to fail.

I have read http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;843106&sd=ee
and that does not seem to help. nothing has changed this just happend like week or so ago
he can send me mail just fine so I think its on my end not his though I have checked both Exchange servers Via the article.
any ideas?

If you change your smtp vsi to route via your ISP's smarthost/smtp relay do you get the message back or does the post get through?

ya it is definatly my server having this problem I just setup a new SBS 2003 for a client and I Cant send to them either due to the same error
any one have any ideas
