Hello, I have an Exchange server with 4 storage groups. The Exchange queue is empty says the Exchange Management Console. But Microsoft Operations Manager and Performance Monitor say that there are 50 messages in the queue. So Exchange lost them somewhere. Very strange. I have: - rebooted the server - dismount the store - check the mailboxes - try to flush the queue with a command but no luck Nothing helped so far. Hope anyone has an idea, because i dont have one anymore.

Hi Red, I do not suspect on Exchange and if MOM or something giving your alert about Queues backing up then you can USE Exchange troubleshooting assistant to check for it. Do one more thing, on Exchange open the queue viewer and on the name tab click once on it. it will show you the mails which it is not processing. Hope it will work

Hi Jugal, I installed Exchange troubleshooting assistant. No error detected. Very strange. I rebooted the server and the queue falls back from 80 to 8. Now 2 days later the queue is 16. In the other storagegroups the queue is 0. If i open the queue viewer als click on: Find all messages, there is no output.

Hi Red, If the queues are there but you are not able to see it, then might be there are spam mails or the mails with wrong recipient address, only those mails are strucking in the queues. And Exchange automatically flush such mails after a specific interwal of time, thats why the invisible queue is deccreaing and increaseing. You do not have to take the panic of that. You can use MOM to report the status and analysis to whom they are destined for. Hope other members will shed some light on it

Have found the problem. People have send mail and chosen to deliver it later. This caused the queue to stay high.
