Hi We have been recieving the above error for some time on our Exchange AAP cluster event logs. It seems to have no impact but i have done some googling on it. It references all the stores that we have. I have found the releavant MS KB :- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899393 I thinks its because despite our exchange physical server names having full control we have an explicit deny for recieve as on our Exchange Domain Servers Group. You can see this being inherited by the stores etc. which is said to be causing the issue. My question is that if you follow step 3 of the kb article which is to remove inherited permissions on the exchange virtual server name in ESM, apply, then turn it on again to pull in the inherited permissions again does this stop mail flow/exchange temporarily or is it un-noticeable - is there any impact in doing this? Should turning inherited off/on simply re-pull in the permissions from above and it work?! thanks James

Removing and adding permissions should not take much more than few seconds / minute at the max. However, the situation would get a bit off hand if there is replication delays between your Domain Controllers - why am i stating this is because. If you make a change (while connecting to DC A, and your main DC - config DC would be DC B, ) and ofcourse if they dont replicate - your stores go down for good since the permission required are now removed :). So, please perform the above steps on your off-peak hours along with keeping in mind that DCs are replicating amongst each other & with Exchange Server.

Ok, yes we have 4 DC's; so i will make sure i do it out of core hours. With reference to the permissions; by removing all permissions on the exchange server node and re-applying inherited - will that be enough to keep it running? I mean would the permissions it re-inherits be the defaults; as we do seem to have a few explicit account permissions added at this server level? thanks for your quick reply! James

Yes, it would inherit everything that would be coming from above - EVERY permission.
