This question has probably been asked but I have been searching for an answer for hours now.  We currently have a native w2k3 SP2 and e2k3 SP3 and would like to migrate to w2k8 and e2k7.  I need to know what is the best practice as far as what needs to be in place first.  From what I gather so far, we should install a w2k8 DC into our exsiting infrastructure and eventually migrate the FMSO.  Once things are settle, we would introduce the first e2k7 as a HUB connecting to our e2k3 bridgehead.  We are looking at introducing three separate e2k7 roles to our infra, another HUB/CAS, Edge and Mailbox.  Is this the correct sequence to safely move from w2k3 dc/e2k3 to w2k8/e2k7.  All the installation will be done on new hardware.

Not enough information.

# of users
size of WAN/LAN.
Why use an edge?

In general, but modified per number of users, remotes, EAS/OWA usage, etc, you may only need one server.
The order of introducing ws08 into your environment is up to you; you can have e2k7 on ws08 and not have the AD be ws08.
CAS first, and then change your infrastructure to bring the remote access through it.
HUB next, and bring the internet routing through it.
MBX last, and test users.
Migrate.
Test.
Remove e2k3.

Documentation is very clear.
