Okay, so I've got a exch07 box with the HT, mailbox, and CAS roles applied. I've got ISA 2006 publishing the server and I can view OWA for users with mailboxes on the exch07 server. But if I try to access the /exchange virtual folder on the exch07 server and the user's mailbox is on the exch03 back end server it doesnt' come up. I tried testing inside the network and if I try to hit the /exchange folder and login as a user with an account on the exch03 back end, it just redirects my browser to the exch03 web server. Are there any known issues with using exch07 CAS as a front end for exch03 mailbox web users? Any ideas on what to try next? Thanks in advance.
I checked the settings on the back end and the folders are set for both integrated and basic authentication. Split DNS is working fine, and I had a working FE/BE setup with 03 prior to this and it was working. I ran a packet capture on all packets from the 07 box to the 03 box and the odd thing is that no traffic occurs when I try the OWA test. I tested out the capture and it works fine on the smtp mail traffic, etc but when I tested the owa not a single packet went through. It's as if the 07 box doesn't even try and just sends back a HTTP referral/redirect which causes the client to try a direct connect to the 03 box.
I've got the same problem... when trying to connect to a 2003 mailbox using the OWA 2007 "/exchange" virtual directory, i'm redirected to the internal address of the 2003 box. So it is not possible to access a 2003 mailbox using OWA 2007 from an external location (via public address, thru an isa box).
