I currently have 1 Exchange 5.5 server running on my NT 4.0 network as a member server. I imaged a second server as a BDC and am trying to add as a 2nd Exchange Server. During the setup, it gets to the poing of trying to replicate with the other server but fails with the error:

An internal error has occurred during directory replication. Stop and then restart the directory service. Then try directory replication again. ID# c1030b0d

I notice that in the registry, the location for MSExchangeSA is removed causing an error when trying to restart the service. I reenter it and start the service again, but when I run setup again, the same error occurs.

Please help!

Remove the exchangeserver and reinstall him
take care of using the same service-accountnames like the first server and use the same organisation and site name
