Hi,

I have the same problem, except I have already allowed anonymous to create items against the Mail enabled Public Folder in question.  User's inside the organisation can mail to the public folder, but not external users.

When I run Get-PublicFolderClientPermission "\Folder Name" | FL, the Anonymous User has {Contributor} rights.

The Get-MailPublicFolders cmdlet against the folder in question is default, i.e. RejectMessagesFrom is blank and AcceptMessagesOnlyFrom is blank.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Kevin Greenway

have you followed this step

Allow Anonymous users to create items.

or make the sending server authenticate SMTP session.
The account used for authentication must also have create items permission on the PF

Hi,

Yes I tried implicitly assigning create rights to the anonymous user.  Contributor rights however includes Create Items.

The SMTP Connector does not require authentication.

Anymore ideas?

Thanks,

Kevin

What is the permission of that user having in that pf.

Please try to give him owner permission (for testing purpose) and try to send message

Get-PublicFolder pf name| add-publicfolderclientpermission -accessrights owner
-user user1

Hi,

I've tried this but the Anonymous/Default user is not permitted to be Folder owner.

Please advise further.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi mate,

I think I can save you the bother.

I deleted the folder, created a new folder, mail enabled it and bingo it worked.

Unfortunately I did not keep the original folder so I cannot compare permissions.

Thanks for your help anyway.

On another note do you know how to add the mail enabled pf to a distribution group?

Kevin

As many of us have already taken note, Exchange 2007 has some quirks like this one. The best bet in such a situation when you have done everything according to the book and it still doesnt work is exactly what you did, delete the item and recreate it. I have had to do this several times on mail-enabled public folders as well as a few shared mailboxes when it comes to "Send-As" permissions.

I can only hope that these oversights are/were corrected in SP1 (which I will be waiting at least another month to deploy).
