Hi there,
i am concerned about the size of log files in imcdata log folder. One is 87Mb and the other is 758Mb.

As i understand it you can shut down the mail service and delete these logs to free up space (might even improve performance?)
Would this have an adverse effect, or would exchange pick up from where it left off in creation of a new log file?

+ if i deleted the log file and then had a problem would it hinder a restore from a backup, or are these even used?

Hope someone can teach me a thing or two! :0)

Hi Vince,

The IMCDATA folder is a temp location for in/outbound Internet mail, and mail should only stay here until it's delivered...

How big is the IMC log file ?

I'm wondering if you have enabled SMTP logging or something like that, then that could be the reason.

All files below the in/out folders can be deleted without problems.

Hi Henrick,

Thanks for the information.

The log file in question is in the imcdata/log folder and is 760Mb.

I have identified that SMTP logging is enabled for maximum logging.
As a temporary measure i have moved the log files to another folder to see if this has any adverse effect.

BUT i am confused as to which logs these actually are, there are two sorts:
SMTP Interface Events
SMTP Protocol log

Is one of these actually required, or are they both just temporary information?

Thanks
Vince
