Hello,
We’re planning an upgrade of Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, but I’m confused how we should keep the same DNS name for the new system.
I understand the OWA or ActiveSync DNS will be redirected to the temporary legacy name,
but I’m not sure how the Outlook RPC clients that are directed to 2007 mailbox server should be re-configured to go through the new 2010 Client Access Array name in the co-existence mode.

We have Exchange 2007 cluster (CCR) now and will have Exchange 2010 Client Access Array with MS NLB.

Suppose that my 2007 Exchange cluster has the name, mail.contoso.com, and all the Outlook clients are currently configured to go to this Exchange 2007 cluster name, mail.contoso.com.

I want to keep the same name in the upgraded Exchange 2010 environment, but since all the PCs with existing 2007 Cluster name will have to look at the new 2010 Client Access array name, I don’t know if I should create a new DNS for the Exchange 2010 Client Access Array like “mail2010.contoso.com” or if I can just keep the same existing name, “mail.contoso.com.”

I will really appreciate your help.
Thank you.
