I have exchange 2007 and have installed a certificate from my Windows 2000 certificate server, I have installed the root certificate on my smartphone and opened port 443 on my firewall. When trying to sync I get 0x80072F17

I can use OWA from the smartphone

what am I missing? Is it possible to use activesync without buying a certificate. We are a small company and only have 5 smart phones

are you sure you have installed the actual root and not the certificate itsself.

Is the FQDN correct on the cert?
