Hi All

I've exchange 2007 org
- 2 servers clustered and Mailbox Database stored on SAN
- 2 Servers Hub,CAS
- One Edge

I need to add Another mailbox server to cluster But I need to replicate all database from SAN to my local server and be Passive for SAN

If the SAN fails? Really?
I suggest you go and talk to your storage team and tell them that you want to replicate your email in case their SAN fails. Let me know what they tell you.

There's a fairly good chance that they if they have one storage fabric and disks at your primary location they have another one somewhere else to which they are replicating.

The whole point of network storage is that it's a strategic solution for multiple applications and a robust backup/recovery plan is in place.

You can SCR in this scenario.

Isn't it going to work Mark?

No Gulab, he can't. He said that he already has a clustering solution in place. You cannot mix LCR and SCC/CCR. If you Google "LCR Combine CCR" you'll see a lot of links from people who wanted to do this way back in 2007.

The single thing that the OP needs to do is to have a common sense approach to his network storage. SAN equipment is usually very close to SIX nine's reliable. That's 99.9995%.

Here's another thing to think about. It is FAR FAR more likely for someone to make a human error. Over complicating the application increases the likelihood of a layer 8 error.

I would love to be in the same room when the OP asks his manager for more money to put disks in his Exchange server to double protect his Exchange because he doesn't trust the SAN.

Your technical option, should you want to, would be to implement CCR. You are allowed to have different storage. So one node of the 2007 CCR sits on the SAN and the other node sits on local disks or another SAN.

It's still a ridiculous solution, but CCR is your answer and is fully supported.

I need to stop you and end this. If you don't know how the whole Exchange thing inside and out you are going to have problems supporting it yourself.
You are not helping yourself because all of this technology is going away in Exchange 2010 to be replaced by similar but sufficiently different High Availability solutions.

Just stop and let the storage guys manage it because I can guarantee you, the storage is more highly available than your servers and you are just going to get yourself into a total mess.
