Archive mail to Public Folders automatically? - 9.Feb.2007 11:33:49 AM

Hi All,

I am trying to setup a mailbox to auto archive to a public folder.  So far I have tried setting up rules but the mail isn't moved to the public folder unless I have the mailbox open.

The reason I am doing this is because I set up a mail-enabled public folder but the company I work for needs to be able to accept NDR's and since this is not possible, I've created a mailbox.

When I was having issues with the NDR's it seemed everything I read pointed toward archiving the mail from a mailbox to a public folder but this isn't a user mailbox and there isn't anyone to to keep the mailbox open and allow it to process the rules.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  My boss is really breathing down my neck on this one.

What criteria are you using to determine which messages should be archived from this mailbox?

Thanks for the reply.  I have a blank rule setup to check all incoming messages and forward them to the public folder.  There are no other parameters to this rule.

Actually not to forward but to move the email to the public folder.

If that's the case, then do this in ADUC.  On the Exchange General tab, set up the forwarding in the Delivery Options section.

Thank you for the suggestion but I just tried that and now I am getting the same issue as before.  I send the email and an NDR is generated but it never gets delivered to the mailbox or the public folder.  Am I doing something wrong?

Have the message delivered to both the mailbox and the forwarding address in ADUC.
Does the mailbox have any write-permissions to the PF?

Right now the messages are forwarding and then being deleted from the mailbox.  the last thing I see in Message Tracking is forwarded to Public Folder.  When a regular email is sent the email shows up just fine in the PF but when a NDR is generated it is deleted.

Thanks again for your help.

Oh and yes I added Owner rights for the account that has the mailbox to the PF.
