Now i know there are 1000's of threads and sites regarding Autodiscover and the policies that surround it.

My problem, is I am getting myself confused with articles and items from various forums and sites:

Scenario is as such:

8R2 with EX2K7 all updated.

outlook connects via hard line and wireless- no joy when on 3rd party line.
popular phone- sync's with Ex on cellular network- no issues
popular tablet- sync's with Ex on cellular network- no issues

done various tests via EMS, but i get one step forward, and then two steps back.

To be honest, what I know about EX is dangerous- so if you are going to help me- baby steps is the way forward...

Another thing i have noticed, in IIS- to modify say the SSL OWA, one has to right-click and select properties- but i don't have "properties" in the list.

Any experts out there wanting to help out of this downward spiral hole I have got myself into?

Let's start with the question which error do you receive when creating a new profile in Outlook or when using the test Auto E-mail configuration feature from Outlook:

- right control key
- right click outlook icon
- select option test auto e-mail configuration
- uncheck both smart option
- provide a username and password
- test the function
- post the output of the tests (all tabs) here

Best regards,

The fact that it only occurs for non-domain machines would tend to point to autodiscover. If you have machines that are on your LAN, using your Exchange server, then you need to ensure that autodiscover.example.com resolves internally to your internal IP address - usually by using split DNS.

If I get it right you are saying that Outlook can connect on the Local Area Network (LAN) but not when, let's say, connecting over the Internet. Is that right?

If so, have you enabled Outlook Anywhere?
