I have 1 AD domain, company.local, and two external domains, company1.com and company2.com. At each of my two sites (company1 and company2) I have a DC and a Exchange server.  My MX records look like this:  comany1.com
10 - mail.company1.com - company1's external IP
20 - mail.company2.com - company2's exteranl IP  company2.com
10 - mail.company2.com - company2's exteranl IP
20 - mail.company1.com - company1's external IP  That way if one of the divisions internet goes down, email will be sent to the other exchange server and wait to be tranfsered (via a VPN) to the other once the internet is back up.  But my question is, how much mail will exchange queue up? Is there a limit to how much or how long it will hold the other exchange servers mail? If so, can I modify these settings?  Please advise. Thanks

In Exchange System Manager bring up the properties of your SMTP virtual server and go to the Delivery tab.  The message timeout options are configurable there.  As to how many can be stored, that would depend on how much disk space you have where the SMTP queues are held.
