Before I explain the situation, the client does not have backups old enough to be of any use. A clients Exchange 2k7mailbox cluster run into problems about 6 weeks ago, exchange worked fine but the resources would not move to the other node - so effectively they had no redundancy. Seems as if the combination of some .net updates and Acronis Echo killing the MS DTC resource was the root cause. After trying some basic troubleshooting attempts I decided to install another mailbox server role into the environment, and moved all mailboxes/logs and public folders to it (Inc OAB), this gave me room to work with the cluster without causing any downtime. The original plan was to uninstall Exchange off both nodes completely, blow the cluster and start again from scratch - then importing the mailboxes etc back in, however as normal it is not going to plan. I cannot uninstall Exchange, it comes back with the error: The cluster resource group for clustered mailbox server MYCLUSTER was not found In maintenance mode it also comes back with a cluster error, plus I have tried the /recoverCMS (as per msexchange.org article) and this also fails. Effectively I can nuke these two servers and start again from scratch, but obviously worried about the residue they will leave in AD if Exchange isn't uninstalled through the proper procedure. Has anyone had this sort of problem? Any recommendations? Tags: Microsoft, Exchange, 2007, Mailbox Cluster Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks
