Hi there,
I'm trying to add an email address to a mailbox and comes up with error "This email address already exists in this organisation" ID No: c10312e7
It is likely that the email address used to exist with this mailbox. Is there a way I can clear it without deleting the mailbox etc. Any help much appreciated.

The address is definitely in the system and you will have to do a directory export in order to find it. You will need a special CSV file to capture all information. At one time it was available on the MS web site - but not sure now. I have a copy if you want to contact me off list at bill_brown@ssp.navy.mil
You would use this CSV file and export all of your mailboxes. Easy to just grab the GAL, using Excel - search for the address that you are trying to add. You will probably find it as some user Secondary-Proxy-Address.

Much easier than exporting, is to type the smtp address into the To: box on a new message, and Ctrl-K to resolve it against the GAL - the object that owns the address will then be obvious.
Dir export will work, but it's more effort.

ZB,
Excellent point! The animal lovers will probably jump me on this - but "There is more than one way to skin a cat!" I personally like the export of all headers - gives you a chance to look at things that are not so obvious and might need changing before they become a problem.
Additionally, if you give a programming problem to 5 programmers - you will most likely get at least 7 solutions, because someone always has more than one way to do it...
