Hi Everyone,
I've recently install a new Exchange 2K server in a domain, contained within our forest.

Although the installation went without a hitch, whenever I try to set up a client Outlook email account, from the email applet in the control panel, I get a error stateing "The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list."

The account is accessible via the webmail interface.

From the message above, are there any steps during the install that I could have missed?

Have you set up Recipient Policy for your users and that the Recipient Update Service is applying the policy to new mailbox accounts?

My default recepient policy is correctly set up, and I can confirm that the RPC service(s) are running.

There's nothing in the event log relating to the RPC service(s).

Any other ideas? [Embarrassed] ( From the research I've done, this is quite a common problem, but one which not a lot of people have solved.

When you configure a new Outlook profile the account in question cannot be hidden from the Exchange address book. Uncheck the "Hide from Exchange address list" in AD Users and Computers (Exchange advanced tab), wait for replication and then try again. When the profile has been created you can hide the user again.

Also, there was an issue with Exchange 2000 and a hotfix, see if http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;309622 applies to your situation.

Good luck! [Smile]
