I am hoping this is a quci fix but I have an 07 and 03 server running. From 2003 I can see 2007 mailboxes free/busy. From 2007 mailboxes I can see 2007 free/busy but not 2003 mailboxes free/busy. I can see the public folders from the 2007 mailboxes as well.

Have you replicated the free/busy system folder to both servers? Simon.

An update. I just tested with my mailbox which is on the 2007 Exchange box. With Outlook 2007 and owa I can't see 2003 free/busy. With Outlook 2003 I can see 2003 free/busy time. Could it be the availability service?

Adding the key allowed me to see Exchange 2003 free busy. I'll start looking at availability. When I setup the ssl for autodiscover I did not use the name of my server but rather used email.mydomain.com, could that be the issue. Thanks for your help.

hi mate, It seems that Availability service is causing some problem there need to check on that area. But as of now you can do another workaround go to Exchange Server open IIS console => Default web site => right click public folder => Security = uncheck 128 bit encryption and see that whether it is working for rest of the users.

Are you referring to the Exchange 2003 server or 2007. On 2003 that directory does not have ssl or 128 bit checked. I unchecked it on Ex 2007 and restarted IIS but still cannot see the 2003 free/busy.

Still struggling with this. I have this error in the 07 server event log: Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchange Availability Event Category: Availability Service Event ID: 4003 Date: 7/10/2008 Time: 8:07:29 PM User: N/A The Availability service could not successfully retrieve Schedule+ free/busy data for one or more legacy Exchange mailboxes. The AS urls were set to the default fqdn, I changed it to the same address I had setup and that appears ok now. According to this page ( http://www.theexchangewiki.com/AvailabilityServiceFAQ?show-menu=false ) the 4003 event can be 4003 – Indicates a failure to look up free/busy information for legacy mailboxes. This information comes from public folders. The root cause could be the public folders are not configured correctly or AS has not been configured to look up public folders for the legacy mailboxes. You may need to run the add-AvailabilityAddressSpace cmdlet and configure AS to lookup public folders. Anyone know if this couldbe the issue?

OK so I went back and unchecked 128 bit and SSL on the public folder on Exchange 2007 and now it is working. Does anyone know if this is a known issue? This blog seems to say that it is. http://blog.matthewtrotter.com/?p=19 THANKS - Exchange_Geek and ismail.mohammed

There is quite some of solutions up on the sleeve from Microsoft, it would be great if you could add the entire error with respect to 4003 events. Here is one solution http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=947346

Below is the error I was seeing. i saw that article you linked to but it did not apply to my setup. I have a small setup and only on PF database on the Ex 2003 box. Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchange Availability Event Category: Availability Service Event ID: 4003 Date: 7/11/2008 Time: 10:54:17 AM User: N/A Computer: myserver Description: Process 5048[w3wp.exe:/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/EWS-1-128601940154531250]: Microsoft.Exchange.InfoWorker.Common.Availability.PublicFolderRequest failed. The exception returned is Microsoft.Exchange.InfoWorker.Common.Availability.PublicFolderRequestProcessingException: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.. The request information is http://myserver/public/?Cmd=freebusy&start=2008-06-28T16:00:00Z&end=2008-07-28T16:00:00Z&interval=30&u=user email address.. The Availability service could not successfully retrieve Schedule+ free/busy data for one or more legacy Exchange mailboxes. To find the root cause of this error, increase the diagnostic logging level of the MSExchange Availability service. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
