Hi there

We have a Exchange 2003 Server here and installed a Exchange 2007 next to it with a little help from the "Transitioning from Exchange 2000/2003 to Exchange Server 2007" guide.

I could move a test mailbox easily from the exchange 2003 to exchange 2007 server and I do receive e-mails. What doesn't work is sending emails (either to my local network or internet).
I don't get any errors or NDRs, it just doesn't arrive...

Any ideas what I made wrong?

Thank you (and sorry for my bad english) ;)
Aaron

Start by using the E2K7 queue viewer tool to see where the message is.

Okay, there they are...
They couldn't be sent beauce of a failing sending-connector.

Error Message:

Letzter Fehler: Ein entsprechender Connector zum Weiterleiten des externen Empfängers kann nicht gefunden werden.
Warteschlangen-ID: exchange2007srv\Unreachable

Translated that would mean something like: Could not find an appropriate connector to forward the external recipient.

I thougth that the exchange 2007 server would forward mail that it should send to the exchange 2003 server and he would do that then. Am I wrong with my presumption?

What can I do if this connector doesn't exist?

thank you very much
aaron

The bi-directional connector that is created just allows you to send mail between Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007.  You still have to create an Internet Connector with a Smart Host that hits the Exchange 2003 box if you want Exchange 2003 to route to the internet.

You can also set up the Internet Connector on the Exchange 2007 box to use DNS and it will be reponsible for delivering directly to the internet.  It just depends on if you want both boxes to be able to send directly to the internet vs 1 box.

Thanks for the tip.

I've created a send connector using the following tutorial:
http://www.msxfaq.de/howto/e2k7sendconnector.htm

it works perfectly now.

Problem not really fixed:

I probably made a misstake: I created a new send connector with type Internet with the follwing settings:

Address space: *, Cost: 1
Route mail through the following smart hosts: I added the smtp of my provider here

Now what happend is that my Exchange2007 Server could send mails from there on, but my Exchange2003 also sent his mails over the send connector I just created on the Exchange2007 Server.

Is there a way to let them both send their own emails independently and not use the other servers send connector?
