Hello. I need some advice please. I'm currently moving an NT4 domain onto a 2K AD setup for a training centre organisation.
Their Exchange 5.5 sp3 server is on the NT4 PDC I've built a new W2K server and installed AD. Users and computers are migrating well.
I have read Amit Zinman's article http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Exchange_2003_Upgrade_Checklist.html
Here are my questions: 1. Do I have to build a new NT4 Member Server, install Exchange 5.5, restore the mailboxes and then upgrate the whole thing to W2K in order to join the new AD network ?
2. Do I have to build a new W2K server and install Exchange 2003 on it and mgrate the old mailboxes ?
3. Can I upgrade the NT4 PDC to W2K server and continue using Exchange 5.5 in the new AD structure?
Any help would be appreciated.

>1. Do I have to build a new NT4 Member Server, install Exchange 5.5, restore the mailboxes and then upgrate the whole thing to W2K in order to join the new AD network ? No, you can build it as an W2K server and migrate the mailboxes across.
>2. Do I have to build a new W2K server and install Exchange 2003 on it and mgrate the old mailboxes ? This would be easier, join Exchange 2003 to the 5.5 Organisation site, then use ADC to enable you to migrate the 5.5 mailboxes to 2003. This is the method I used.

Why stick with the obsolete 5.5? Upgrade to E2K3 would give better results.
