Hi,

We have a windows 2000 AD domain with only one domain controller, this DC is also our exchange 2000 server.

The hostname is set to server.ourdomain.local however the mx record for our incoming mail is set in external dns as mail.ourdomain.com

We're having some problems with spam filters becuase the reverse DNS doesn't tie up.

Is there any way I can modify exchange so it uses the correct external hostname.

I dont want to affect our internal .local domain.

Open Exchange System Manager.
Navigate to Administrative Groups > AG name > Server name > Protocols > SMTP > SMTP server instance name (E.g. Default SMTP Virtual Server) > Properties > Delivery tab > Advanced button > Fully Qualified Domain Name field (enter internet hostname here).
