Please help. I am new to Exchange, but am learning very fast. I have followed the instructions for hosting your own email by Mark Fugatt, but still can't send or receive email externally. I am using Bellsouth DSL and they are my DNS host and my Mx records are correct. My SMTP virtual server show active or retry, but never ready. When I do an nslookup I get a non-authoritive response. Can anyone shine any light on this problem.

What happens if you telnet to port 25 from the Internet?

I can not telnet to the server from the internet. I have opened port 25 in my router, but could ISA or another app be blocking this port too?

One other note. After not being able to telnet to port 25, I put my server outside the dmz and still could not telnet to port 25. Any help would be great.

I would suggest you contact your ISP and make sure they are not blocking ports, many ISP's are blocking ports to stop people from hosting services of there own.

My isp said they are not blocking any ports and that all my DNS and mx records look good. Any other thoughts? Thanks so much for taking the time to lend me a hand.
