Hi

I was hoping that someone can lead me in the right direction.

I have a serious problem...I can recieve mail from anyone, but I cannot send mail out. I get NDRs. It seems that messages cant get past the exchange server.

I am using SMTP for email. I have port 25 open both ways on the router/firewall.

Is there a configuration that I might be missing. My ISP assigned an IP address to mail.mydomain.com. Do I need that IP address assigned to mydomain.com as well?

I am pretty much lost for answers....Please Help..
.

In reguards to my prevoius messages on the undelivered emails they come back with a NDR status of 4.4.7 Basically saying that it is the problem of the recieving server. Well no matter where I send out the email to it dosent send and they all come back with in 12 hours with a NDR and the error of 4.4.7. Any ideas why?

hi

try to telnet to any remote mailserver or to yourself from the outside of your lan if you are using isaserver go to www.isaserver.org there is some "how to setup on a sbs" in the learning zone, also make sure that your exchange can resolve outside dns names

OK..I can telnet in...thats no problem

I will check out isaserver.org. for that is not my issue...when running internet connection wizard in SBS, SBS will open port 25 (in and out) for exchange in ISA (or what ever way you are getting email).

My issue is I am running a double NIC. I talked to someone and they suggested that in the default smtp server, instead of having "all unassigned" I should have it set to my external NIC. Then what I did was instead of leaving it how it should be...I went into the delivery tab of the default smtp server...went into advanced...and configured the FQDN as mail.mydomain.com...instead of myserver/mydomain.local.

Does this sound like it could be a problem?

Thanx
