I am running windows 2003 DC in my domain. I installed another box with windows 2008 64bit and then Exchange 2007 SP1. It was successful. But due to some complexities in windows 2008 we decided to install Exchange 2007 on windows 2003 server. I reinstalled the OS to windows 2003 from windows 2008 and trying to run the Exchange 2007 setup but getting this error message when running Setup /PrepareAD: ==== Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unattended Setup Preparing Exchange Setup No server roles will be installed Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check Organization Checks ... For more information, visit http://support.microsoft.com and enter the Error ID. Exchange Server setup encountered an error. Please help me to solve this issue.

You have to manually remove that DN before proceeding. Download the 2003 Support Tools from www.microsoft.com/downloads and then run adsi.msc then browse to that DN and remove it.

Launch adsiedit.msc (part of the support tools) and go into the Configuration partion. Bring up the properties for Configuration,DC=domain,DC=com and edit the "otherWellKnownObjects" attribute to be "not set" (which it should be) by leaving it blank and clicking "add" (adding nothing) than applying the changes and re-running setup. Might have to give it a little time to replicate throughout AD though.....
