Hello Exchange experts, Here is my setup: Parent/Child domain environment. Exchange 2007 already running in child1.mydomain.com. Just installed HUB, CAS, Mailbox servers in child2.mydomain.com. To install these servers, created a user account 'userA' in mydomain.com root domain and added it to 'Enterprise Admin' group. Used this account to run setup /pd and then later setup.exe to launch setup GUI (after adding user2 to the local 'Administrators 'group on the servers). After Exchange installation, created 'userB' account in child2 domain and added this account in the 'Exchange Organization Administrator' group. Now I can only use the 'userA' account to create user mailbox. Although userB is in the 'Exchange Organization Administrator', I cannot use it to create user Mailbox. Error I get is 'insufficient access permission' Any help is welcome. Thank in advance. TheCertGuru.

What permissions does the second account have in the domain? Remember Exchange isn't just Exchange, it does things in the AD as well. Simon.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the UserB account was member of 'Domain Users' but I was not able to use it for user account creation from Exchange Management Console. Only when I made this account member of 'Domain Admin' was I able to use it to created mailbox enabled user account using EMC. Is this normal functionality. Being a member of 'Exchange Organization Admin' is not enough to create user accounts?

When you create a mailbox you are actually creating an object in the Active Directory domain. That requires permissions in the domain. You may not require Domain Admin, but you will require more than Domain Users. The permissions you have granted in Exchange will allow the user to administrate the Exchange org, but not the mailboxes. Simon.
