Hello

I have scavenged the web looking for a resolution to this problem.

I have a 2 server environment. First server is PDC/GC, the second is a DC/Exchange server.

The Exchange 2003 server is running on Server 2003. This system was migrated from Exchange 2000. I followed the article on this site for migrating to new hardware. The migration went great. All FSMO/Exchange roles were transferred before decommissioning the old E2K server.

After removing the old E2K server, I cannot create new mailboxes or edit the RUS (which is pointed to the PDC/GC). I have two RUS policies, one for enterprise and the other is for domainname.

I receive error c007054b, "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."

I can create AD accounts and they replicate fine. I just can't create mailboxes. If I try to create the account from the PDC console, I do not get the option to create an Exchange mailbox, nor can I manage Exchange attributes from migrated mailboxes.

Could someone please shed some light on this situation?

I have resolved this issue.

I had to manually change my DNS SRV records under _msdcs > gc / pdc

The records were still pointing to my recently decommissioned server.

After restarting the Exchange services, I was able to create mailboxes and configure RUS.

Exchange is now working fine with no Event errors.
