Hi All,
we use exchange 2003 under windows 2003 environment. all of our users cannot use the reply email when he use OWA on IE7 under Windows Vista platform.
Can someone help for this?

thxs. but the problem still could not be solved.
Remarks
there are no any error message but the body part is cross and lock (could not input anything).

I go to the download site that mdwasim provided and download the related hotfix (KB 911829) and executed it.
But, one minor prob.
1. restarting is requested after executed the installation.
After restarting, the infomation store cannot start start automatic. You need to restart it manual.
So, I suggest do the backup first before the above.

Have you encountered any problems with non vista users after the hotfix? Most of our OWA users do not have vista, and we have many that sych their smartphones as well. I would hate to mess up what is already working for the majority of our employees, just so a couple of them that have vista can access. Thanks for any and all input

The fix isn't for VISTA, it is for IE7. If you have Microsoft Update enabled then it would have been pushed to your server months ago and causes no problems at all. OWA is fully backwards compatible, it adds to the configuration - it doesn't take it away.

I have users using ie 7 outside of vista (on XP machines)that have not encountered the problems this hot fix addresses, so I don't see how microsoft contends it is an ie 7 issue. Since this is a "hotfix" from microsoft, I don't think that it is sent via automatic updates. My question still stands, has anyone encountered issues after applying the hotfix?

Can some one facing the problem please upload the screenshot of the error.
Also, whats common to all these users who are facing this issue. ?
Are other mailboxes on the same store facing same problem ?

There really is no error, the issue common to all is Vista. Users either can not send email because the message box is a red x or if they can compose a message (in my experience they can compose if they download the S/MIME control under OWA options) IE will crash upon hitting the send button, and the message is not sent

Thanks, I know the fix exists, my question is if anyone has experienced issues after applying it. The vast majority of my users do not have issues as they do not have Vista, I do not want to screw up access to them just to appease a couple

I just enquired with few of my friends at MS - they stated that this has not caused any problems per se.
However, if you are that scared about playing around with it - take the pain to replicate the scenario on a lab environment as MNCs normally perform.
Googling through i did not find any forum which stated any problem started after installing this fix. Else, open a ticket with Microsoft PSS if you want to hear from the horse's mouth.

The update comes down with Automatic Updates if you are using WSUS or have enabled Microsoft Update (which updates all Microsoft products). I have been deploying the update on every server I touch since its release and have not seen any problems with it.
Obviously I cannot comment whether there is something about your specific environment that will cause a problem - a third party utility that is accessing OWA. That is why you test updates before you deploy them.

Thanks for all the input, unfortunately the company I work for does not have the budget to afford a lab environment to test these updates, which is the reason I came here to get other peoples input on their experience with the update

Can't afford free?
My lab is a copy of VMWARE and a fast workstation with lots of space. The days of requiring lots of hardware are long gone. Most testing is now done in virtual machines.
