Cert Common Names - 15.Aug.2012 8:22:27 AM

I installed a 3rd party cert and gave it a common name of www.mydomain.com but my exchange server is expecting remote.mydomain.com. So now everyone is getting a name mismatch error. I tried to install it again to choose a different CN but it won't because it's the same thumbprint, and I can't remove the original either.

Can I either add a CN to the cert without removing it or change the name the exchange server is expecting so it will match the www.mydomain.com cert?

You need to create a SAN certificate for Exchange. You need to have at a minimum your webmail URL (webmail.domain.com) and your autodiscover URL (autodiscover.domain.com) on the certificate. You can also add remote.domain.com if that is a different URL from your webmail URL. Contact your certificate provider and ask them if you can simply add more domains to your existing certificate. You may have to generate a new certificate request (CSR) file.
