We will be doing an upgrade from our Exchange 2007 environment to Exchange 2010 where both versions will co-exist for several months. I have UCC certificate for my Exchamge 2007 environment. Can I export my UCC certificate on my Exchange 2007 CAS and export that to my new Exchange 2010 CAS so I dont have to purchase a new UCC SAN for the Exchange 2010 environment? The FQDN for the new Exchange 2010 CAS is obviously different than the Exchange 2007 CAS, so would I need to add the FQDN of the Exchange 2010 certificate before I export to the new 2010 CAS?

Also, I assume the legacy.domain.com certificate name for the Exchange 2007 CAS will need to be purchased and applied to the 2007 CAS?

thanks

The simple and direct answer is no. You cannot use the 2007 cert for 2010

Actually as long as you add the legacy.domain.com and the new URL for Exchange 2010 onto the certificate, then you can definitely reuse it! However, why would you want to change your URL for Exchange 2010? I would recommend that you keep the OWA url the same on Exchange 2010 so that your users do not need to remember a new URL and change their bookmarks. Simply change your firewall so that the URL points to the 2010 CAS server(s).

I do want to use the same URL on Exchange 2010 CAS. However, since the new CAS in 2010 will have a different host name I will need to include that host name's FQDN in the exported cert....wouldn't I?

You'll be required to input the following

externalmail.domain.com
internalmail.domain.com
autodiscover.domain.com
CASArray.domain.com
CASArray
legacy.mydomain.com - ONLY if you have E2003 server in your environment.

You could use your CAS Name instead of CAS Array if you haven't configured CAS Array in your environment.

FQDN included above are just examples, you'd need to feed in the Names that you choose for your environment.
