Does anyone know if it's possible to change the computer name of an exchange server 5.5 without effecting the database?

I changed the computer name of my server, and restarted, but the services won't start now as they still try to look for the old name. I cannot revert back to the old name, cuz the old name was INTERNET which is no longer supported in windows 2000 and onwards. If there is no way to change the computer name of an exchange server, then does anyone have an idea on how to add a computer name "INTERNET" to a native windows 2000 domain? "[Eek!]"

There are ways to forklist your system to a new host with a new name.

Basicly you forklist the priv and pub files and use the new dir.edb file

It requires you use the isinteg to recreate missing entrys from the priv / pub files.

I would highly recommend you make backup copies of everything in triplicate (ok atleast two known good copies)

your in native mode right?

The other option is to build 4.0 server and export all your data via exmerge or the like and import it into the new exchange server.
