Dear All,

Please can someone confirm whether what I'm doing is correct and if not, what should I be doing :) also if it is correct, any ideas why I'm having the issue below.

I have built two exchange servers (running on server 2008 ent edition) they are named MS-01 & MS-02.

After having some errors trying to setup SCR I thought I would start from fresh as I figured I probably did something wrong, so what I have done is removed the default storage groups and databases from both exchange servers, as well as making sure that the 'first storage group' folder on the c drives were deleted. So at this stage both exchange servers don't have a storage group or database.

On MS-01, I then created a new storage group called 'First Storage Group' the log files are in c:\program.....First Storage Group\Logs & the system files are in c:\program.....First Storage Group\System

The database is on the D drive d:\First Storage Group\MDBdata\mailbox database.edb

I then thought that if I enable SCR on this storage group, in theory it will replicate the storage group across to the other server so I ran this command:-

Enable-StorageGroupCopy -Identity <NameofStorageGroup> -StandbyMachine <NameofSCRTargetMachine> -ReplayLagTime 0.1:0:0

I didn't get any errors in powershell so it has enabled SCR to my knowledge. I checked the event viewer on MS-02 (the target server) and I have found these two errors:-

Event 2145, MSExchangeRepl
The directory '\\MS-01\40c653f8-dc0d-4931-93db-40d21406085c$' required by the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service for MS-01\First Storage Group could not be accessed. Check the network connectivity and name resolution. Error: 67.
http://www.microsoft.com/products/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Exchange&ProdVer=8.1.240.3&EvtID=2145&EvtSrc=MSExchangeRepl&FileVer=8.1.240.3&FileName=&EvtType=&LCID=2057
&
Event 2074, MSExchangeRepl
The directory \\MS-01\40c653f8-dc0d-4931-93db-40d21406085c$ required by the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service for MS-01\First Storage Group does not exist. Check the file system and its permissions.

Since enabling SCR, it has replicated the "First Storage Group" Folder from MS-01 to MS-02 so that is all the information I have so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Kindest Regards

Musto

(PS. Both servers are in the same domain, in the same site, in the same subnet if anyone needs to know)

Ok,

I created a storage group on MS-01 called FSG, it is located on the C drive, and the log files and system files are located within FSG\Logs & FSG\System.

The database is located on the D:\FSG\MDBdata\mailbox database.edb

I enabled SCR on MS-01, it has replicated the FSG folders for the C: and D: drives to MS-02, however I get these two error messages in the event viewer on MS-02

Event 2074, MSExchangeRepl
The directory \\MS-01\df40bea2-350b-4316-8cac-9a402e48ada7$ required by the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service for MS-01\FSG does not exist. Check the file system and its permissions.

2145, MSExchangeRepl
The directory '\\MS-01\df40bea2-350b-4316-8cac-9a402e48ada7$' required by the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service for MS-01\FSG could not be accessed. Check the network connectivity and name resolution. Error: 67.

You will find this above url from the event viewer very helpful...

Please can someone help me :) getting a little frsutrated with Exchange now

Hey Guys,

Does this sounds good to you:-

Event 2114, MSExchangeRepl
The replication instance for storage group MS-01\First Storage Group has started copying transaction log files. The first log file successfully copied was generation 1.

I think I have fixed it :-) I uninstalled the Mailbox role and then reinstalled it and tried enabling SCR and hopefully it will work for me, that event notification is a good start :)

Cheers for reading....
