I have Exchange 03 on windows 03. I am using Backup Exec to backup the db nightly. I also do a brick level backup nightly. For the last few weeks the backup has been failing with ESE error 474 in the event log. The exchnage server is still functioning normal but I fear that there is a corruption in the db and eventually it will fail. I would normally just restore from the last succesful backup but I don't have one (don't ask why there is not one). It is not large, only 20 mailboxes (about 4gb). I am planning to just use exmerge to backup the mailboxes, blow away the mailbox store, create a new mailbox store and then import the mailboxes. Can anyone advise if this would be sufficient (on the limited information I have given), if there is a better alternative and/or anything I should be aware of before i start the procedure. Thanks in advance John

hi mate, First you try this step > Create a new storage group and mailbox store and move the user mailbox slowly and keep a track of event log. > If it is working fine then you can stop exmerge process

thanks for your reply Ismail. The problem I have is that the version of Exchange is standard and not enterprise, hence I cannot create a second mail store.I have to export the mailboxes first, delete the current store then create a new store and then imprt the pst files. It still seems like a straightforward task but I just want to make sure there aren't any hidden surprises when it comes to importing the pst files.

hi jonson, If you go with exmerge it will loose single point and database size will be double. (keep in mind) You can run isinteg -fix.
