Help please! Apologies in advance for the long message.I am a newbie!
I have a new server to replace our ISA 2000 box (backend f/w) which was setup in a back to back firewall with a Hardware Sonicwall (on the edge). The ISA2000 was installed on a sinle DC in a dedicated forest and one way trust and it has worked very well. I am also transitioning from Exchange 2003 std to 2010 with another new box. We are tied into Sophos Puremessage for the next 3 years! What would be the best network topology to setup? bearing in mind the new constraints that TMG can not be installed on a DC? Its a real dilema!! I would prefer to install the TMG as a domain member. Can I still use the IIS smtp server in IIS on Windows 2008 as an inbound/outbound relay - so that the exchange server is never in direct contact with the internet? Has any one tried this ? The edge transport is recommended to be installed on a workgroup server in a DMZ - cant afford Virtualisation or another box.
