I'm looking at the DSAccess tab, and I see only one domain controller with config listed there. Is this normal? However, the exchange box sees the other DCs with GC and DC functions.

Exchange can discover only 1 config DC amongst all the other DC / GC it searches from.

Is there a manual way to tell Exchange which DC to get the config from?

In Exchange System Manager and navigate through
Administrative Groups->First Administrative Group->Servers-> Server2.
right-click and select Properties. Click the Directory Access tab.
In the 'Show' drop down list, I selected Configuration Domain Controller Servers.  Uncheck the 'Automatically discover servers' checkbox and answer 'Yes' to message.
Click 'Add', and select the DC which you want Exchange to work as Config DC.

OR if you want to hard code it using registry read link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/250570/en-us

Read the part where it talks about ConfigDCHostName

Doctortt,

The process Exchange_Geek provided will allow you to manually set the configuration DC on the exchange server but why would you want to do this?? I would recommend leaving it as automatic so that in the case there is any issue with the AD on the configuration DC picked by exchange, it will automatically change to a functioning DC.

Thanks. Well, I just want to know for future reference. Not going to make any change.
