Windows 2003 SP1 and Exchange 2003 SP2 adn XPP SP2.

Users on our network seem to use our exchange sever and send messages to each other via telnet.  I want to disbale this feature so they cannot do this .... they can do this even when they are logged on locally on their PCs.

OK, yes, they use the telnet command, but it's not telnet. They connect to TCP25 which is not 23. 23 is the telnet port. If you block 25 nobody will be able to send you anything. If you change 25 to 26 nobody from the outside will be able to send you anything. If you apply authentication to SMTP nobody from the outside will be able to send you anything.

Sure, apply a load of security to the servers so that they only accept connections on 25 from other exchange servers and you'll be fine, internally.

All they're going to do is go home and dick about from there because you CANNOT stop this through technology since the human brain is way smarter than any technology.

Report this to management and have them stopped that way.
