I dont know if i'm posting in the correct part of the forum but here goes. I am trying to create a distribution group with a mailbox so that I can e-mail it from outside the company. Up to now i've been creating millions of them for internal use, but i need one for external and even though i am assigning a mailbox and a correct e-mail address, i get a bounceback that the user is invalid when i try to send somethng from a gmail address. any tips are appreciated, thanks Lyko

In ADUC, open the properties of your DL. Look on the Exchange General tab. Do you have any Message Restrictions configured?

It's set to accept messages from everyone. Nothing blocking it there

Do you have a third party spam filter? The last two we had would verify the user and bounce back if not listed. With one of them, we had to manually go to the site and add the email address to the list.

Yes we do, but it's not blocking it. Other groups work from outside except this one.

It appears you have a mail gateway in front of your Exchange server that keeps a list of allowed recipient addresses. You need to add the address of your distribution list to that access list.
