Hi,

I have been researching coexistence with 2003 and 2007 and came accross this blog:

http://blogs.3sharp.com/deving/archive/2006/09/27/2279.aspx

My situation fits the scenario in that there is currently one Exchange 2003 server with no smtp connector to the internet configured.  Do I need to create one on the 03 server or can I install 07 without it and not effect mail flow on the 03 server?

I was thinking I could install 07 and when I am ready to make the 07 server the default smtp server I would add it on the 07.

hi mate,

I believe already you set everything in Exchange 2003 for your outlook users.

When you install Exchange 2007 it will automatically create a routing connector between the Exchange2003 to Exchange 2007, so by default you will have mailflow from internet => 2k3 => 2k7
once you are set with final part like moved the mailbox, public folders, all you need is create a send connector directly to internet.

Thanks for the response.  I installed 07 yesterday and for the most part everything went ok.  I ran into an issue where the system mailbox was not created in the MESO container in AD and the mailbox database would not mount. The event log had an error "Failed to create the Event Registration mailbox for the database"

I did what was in this note but it did not resolve it.

I had to run setup.com /preparead and it fixed that issue.

Have you tried to delete the store and recreate it?

I believe that the ad prep did not run properly during the initial install.  Once I ran setup.com /preparead again it mounted no problem.
