We wanted to create an e-mail adress helpdesk@domain.be in active directory. We had an error that the e-mail adress allready exist but no account had that adress.

Now we found out where the e-mail adres was created. Under public folders you had a new folder woth contacts. Someone created the folder helpdesk and if you look to the properties of that folder on the mailserver you see the e-mail adress helpdesk@domain.be.

Why is there a need of an e-mail adress for a contacts map in the public folder?

You can create various types of Public Folder, one of which is a Mail Enabled Public Folder.

You can assign an email address to it and allow multiple users access to the folder.

Ok i was the manual but it's not usefull for me.
I don't need a mail enabled public folder. I want a new contacts folder with no e-mail adres enabled.
