Hello Experts, This seems to be something abnormal to me after changing path of EDB and STM files. Recently I changed the server of exchange and 1st on restoring from backup both log files and database files were on same drive (raid0+1). after successful restoration and all things seems to be wrking, I changed the databse path to raid5. after changing the path I noted down the file size of edb and stm files and also the modified date. but till now both things i.e. size and modified date is unchanged. All users seems to be working perfectly. Maintainence process of exchange is working perfect.

That's normal behavior. Until the file size changes, the modified date is going to remain the same. Would you really want Exchange to change the modified date every time a new message came in?

As you responded in your other thread, you can watch the 1221 events. You really don't want or need the EDB timestamp to change with every message. That's a lot of Windows overhead you don't need. I'm curious why you'd even want to know. It should be pretty obvious when you stop receiving messages unless you get so little traffic it's hard to tell.

Exchange was written to use whitespace first regardless of hardware. Keep in mind that whitespace can get created everyday as well as messages past the deleted item retention period get purged. The daily maintenance routine collects the whitespace and reports the 1221 Events.
