I have spent some time browsing msexchange.org and isaserver.org along with lots of other Google link clicks...

Found lots and lots of info about configuring ActiveSync but the amount of opinion differences and out of date info has only severed to give me a headache and no clear answer!

Without meaning to sound ungrateful right from the off; I am not looking for huge white papers with loads of stuff to wade through but some quick and to the point how-to information.

I’m running a single ISA2004 server with my single EX2007 server published through it and want to get ActiveSync working for W7 phones and iPhones. My external DNS for all of the FQDNs the company owns is managed by a third party (so no public facing DNS servers here) – some pointing elsewhere and some at the ISA. There are currently no SSL certs installed on the ISA or the Exchange so e.g. the OWA is done plain text.

I’d really appreciate it if someone can give me some direct, pertinent and not unnecessarily complicated pointers!

Matthew,

Totally agree with you. There is lots of docs on the web about configuring the policies but not a lot on securing it. We are trying to get active sync working with Iphones which is running internally over wifi but not externally. The only difference is that we are running ISA 2006 with Exchange 2007.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to getting this securely setup for my users for external use.
