when mailbox is created. This happens with existing users. If I create a new user the email addresses are automatically inserted into the users E-Mail Addresses list.

I think this might be tied in with the other problem I have been experiencing: http://forums.msexchange.org/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=000831

Any help would be appreciated.

Its the RUS or Recipient policy. You will have to troubleshoot this portion.

Enable Diagnostic Logging for MSEXCHANGEAL (Properties of the server in ESM). Set all categories to MAXIMUM and then rebuild the RUS. After about 10 minutes, check out the Event Viewer (Application log) for warnings or errors.

If that does not indicate anything, review the properties of the RUS and determine which Domain Controller you are talking with. Then reboot that domain controller (hopefully it is also a Global Catalog server).

Again, reference the Application and System log on both servers for warnings or errors.

Hope this helps!

I get a error message for everyone that doesn't have a account.
------------------------------------------
Source: MSExchangeAL
Category: LDAP Operations
Event ID: 8270

LDAP returned the error [32] Insufficient Rights when importing the transaction

And

Source: MSExchangeAL
Category: Address List
Event ID: 8315

The service could not update the entry 'blah blah blah' because inheritable permissions are not propagated to this object.
------------------------------------------
All the users were created the same way. So I don't know why they wouldn't have the same permissions as everyone else.

Thanks.

Make sure that "allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object" is unchecked under the "user" -> "security"

Excuse my ignorance on this topic but where do I set "allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object". There are many places where I could set that check box.

Programs/Microsoft Exchange/and then click "Active Directory Users and Computers".
In the console tree, click Users.
Right-click the user account, and then click Properties.
Click the Security tab.Click to select the "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object" check box.
Click OK.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out why I was having a hard time finding that "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object" check box. I didn't have advanced features on, doh! Anyway I checked under users and it is checked, but when I checked the individual users it wasn't checked. Should I go through and turn it on all of my users individually or is there some security risk doing that/another reason it isn't working?

Thanks again for putting up with newbie questions.

James
