I'll be installing a Certificate and plan to use the following Enable command but I have a question on the affect it will have on normal SMTP traffic.

Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Services IIS, POP, IMAP, SMTP

Will enabling SMTP require all SMTP traffic to now use SSL (meaning the default external mail connector) or does this only affect the client access (ie outlook express)

FYI- I'm somewhat new to exchange management and this sight has been a godsend.... Thank you very much.

Exchange 2007 uses opportunist TLS. Therefore if the site connecting to you doesn't support TLS then Exchange will not use it. Setting the certificate to use SMTP will have no effect on email transport.

Simon.
