Error 1638 when reinstalling function of Exchange 2007 Client Access

I'm trying to reinstall the Client Access function (from Add / Remove Programs), has left me uninstall it but when installing I get this error:

Opening package 'C:\Sp1\exchangeserver.msi' failed. Another version of this pro
duct is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To co
nfigure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs
on the Control Panel. Error code is 1638.

The Exchange Server setup operation did not complete. Visit http://support.micro
soft.com and enter the Error ID to find more information.

Exchange Server setup encountered an error.

Whether I get from add and remove programs and from console.

I tried it with the original cd with the sp1, sp2 and sp3, with 3-v2 rollup installed and removed.

Currently version 8.3 with sp3.

Status: offline 		Did you delete the folders in the directory? Also, after uninstall you should reboot the server.

Status: offline 		In that folder you mean?
When I installed SP3 but I deleted the directory I downloaded again.
Restart the server after uninstall

Status: offline 		If it says that current version is 8.3 that means its already running SP3.
To check this, check the registry and check what is Configured Version and Unpacked Version.

Status: offline 		The registry show me actual version 8.3.83.6.
I try to reinstall the sp3 downloaded from the Microsoft site and displays the same error.

Download RU 4 for SP3. Install it and see if you are getting the error message.
I don't see any point reinstalling the RU3. Is there any issue you are facing?

Just a little update on RU4, its been taken out from Download site due to issues with it.
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/en-us/licensing-faq.aspx

About your issue, did you tried to install the RU from Setup.exe directly. Don't install or update from Control Panel.

That RU4 update was for Exchange Server 2010 not for Exchange 2007.

Any update on the issue?

Have seen this issue also with Exchange 2010. Solution in that case was to remove all the updates and install again. This would mean you also should remove SP3 and reinstall it again.

If you remove SP3 entire exchange will be removed.

Status: offline 		yep gulub your right my fault misread the text. Please remove all rollups installed on the Exchange server and then try again.
Besides this post the setup log.
