Is it possible to install Exchange 2000 into an Exchange 2007 environment that was initially Exchange 2000? I have a customer that has installed Exchange 2007 into their Exchange 2000 environment. Everything is working well except the customer has Outlook 2001 for MAC clients that are not supported with Exchange 2007. The customer plans to replace his MACs with PCs so they don�t want to upgrade to Entourage. Their current Exchange 2000 server is on unreliable hardware, so to continue to support their Outlook 2001 MAC clients they want to install a new Exchange 2000 server into the environment. The original Exchange 2000 server still exists in the environment. Is this possible?

I figured it out. When I uninstalled the Active Directory Connector on the Exchange 2000 server it removed a container from AD that the install looks for. Check this out : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;287172 . I added the container back and I could install.

You can install 2000 back into the 2007 environment as long as there is still a 2000 server in the environement.
