Hello, I am trying to install Exchange 2007. I have Win2K3 R2 x64 install and updated. I have checked and run all the preparation tools.

I am now at the start of the real setup, running thusly, and I am receiving an error.

Here is the command:

setup /mode:install /roles:HT,CA,MB /TargetDir:F:\Exchange2007 /SourceDir:Z:\ /DomainController:(specified) /EnableLegacyOutlook

Here is the output:

Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unattended Setup

Unhandled Exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'Microsoft.Exchange.Setup.ExSetup.ExSetup' from assembly 'ExSetup, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'.

Exchange Server setup encountered an error.

The Application Log contains a .NET Runtime 2.0 Error, EventID 1000:

Has anyone seen this STUPID ERROR?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

Hiya, after updating your server with the latest patches, did you then install .NET 2.0?

If so did you then run Windows update again prior to trying to install Exchange - there is a patch to .NET which Exchange 2007 needs in order to work correctly.

Cheers

A

Andy, Cheers for the reply.  The server is fully patched - nothing showing as available on windows update at all.

Hiya, have you ripped off the .NET 2.0 framework and reinstalled? Including the patch?

Cheers

    Andy,
I ended up formatting the server and did no updates whatsoever.  Put the exchange disk into another 64bit server DVD drive, shared it, and it ran the setup (on step further than before). Then it told me which updates to do; i did them, and the setup worked fine.
Cheers.
