Hi,

We have a SBS 2008 server running Exchange 2007 SP1. We are looking to upgrade this to SP3 but had a couple of questions before we do so…

1 – I have noticed that there have been a total of 10 rollups released for SP3. We have never been involved in an upgrade like this and wanted to know…

If we installed SP3 - do we individually need to install each rollup one at a time? Will they install automatically via windows update?

2 – Should we be aware of anything before we do this? Apart from taking a full backup of the server (which we intend to do).

Thanks for any help provided

You need to run the below command before you install SP3 on the server.
Run setup.com /preparead this command will upgrade the schema too for your exchange organization. As you have SBS environment you don't have to run the /ps and /preparead and /preparedomain separately

Once you ran /preparead successfully install SP3
After that install RU10 cause these RU's are cumulative hence you don't have to install the RU's one after another.

Cheers,

Thanks for the response...

So I simply open a CMD windows and type:

Run setup.com /preparead

What does this exactly do?

Thanks
