at the moment NTbackup is the only  option available for taking backups.

NTBackup doesn't have option to do VSS backup of Exchange still, but it can be used for streaming backup

Although still in beta, DPM v2 does a great job backing up E2K7 stores too (even using VSS on either active or passive node).

So, DPM v2 will take VSS backups of Exchange and clear the log files?  Or do you still need to do a streaming backup at least once day in addition to VSS backups?

Yes DPM will truncate the log files, so no need for streaming backup.

BTW I have written an article about doing VSS backup of the passive node on a CCR cluster, and it will be published very soon.

You might have noticed, but BackupEXEC latest built 11.0.7170 now supports Exchange 2007.

You might not have noticed: BackupExec 11d is not working with CCR.
You can backup the passive node, it's truncating the logs on the active node, too.
But: During the restore, the Exchange VSS writer dies. You have to reboot the active node then. Answer from Symantec: Yes, it's a problem and we're working on it (since April...).
