Hi

I started upgrading an exchange server to SP1 and when the upgrade reached the Hub Transport role it stoped saying that MSExchange Service Host Service didn't respond to the start command in a timely fashion.

i dont have forefront installed on the server and i tried all the solutions i could find with no luck.

Now i am stuck in the middle, the email service is running but there is no management interface and no OWA. I would appreciate your help in either rollingback to the status before trying to upgrade or fixing this service issue and continuing the upgrade process.

the error log created bu the upgrade wizard is:

After reading the list of all the services installed by Exchange 2010 i stumbled upon the solution to my problem.

This problem was resolved by changing the Log On type of Microsoft Exchange Service Host service to Local Service rather than using the Network Service account.

The list can be found here:

Regards.
